Amb Markos hails South Africa’s effort in facilitating GERD negotiation

Addis Ababa, February 14, 2021 (FBC) –Ethiopian Ambassador to Egypt, Markos Tekle met with Joseph Mashimbye, Ambassador of South Africa to Egypt.

Ambassador Markos hailed the effort South Africa had exerted in facilitating the GERD negotiation during its leadership of the continental organization.

He emphasized that the wisdom and dedication displayed by President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa in pursuing a principled approach is an exemplary role to address continental problems.

Ambassador Markos further added that “this resolve is a clear reflection of South Africa’s commitment to find an ‘African Solution to African Problems’.

Ambassador Mashimbye on his part expressed his hope that the three countries could manage to complete the AU-led negotiations successfully.

The two ambassadors appreciated the close coordination between the two embassies and expressed their commitment to further enhance this coordination.
