Amb. Dhaba confers with leadership of JOGMEC, Sumitomo Metal Mining

Addis Ababa, September 19, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Japan, Dhaba Deble has held a discussion with Mr. Hiroshi Shimotori, Executive Vice President of the Metals Unit for Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), and Mr. Takahiro Hagiwara, General Manager, representing Sumitomo Metal Mining.

The discussions revolved around fostering a collaborative partnership to enhance investments within Ethiopia’s mining and energy sectors, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

Both parties explored avenues for cooperation that would yield mutual benefits.

It is noted that such initiatives hold the potential to contribute to the growth of Ethiopia’s mining and energy industries while simultaneously offering opportunities for Sumitomo Metal Mining to expand its presence in the region.

It is said that this meeting marks a pivotal step towards strengthening economic ties between Ethiopia and Japan in the Mining and Energy sector.
