Amane Beriso wins gold medal in the women’s marathon in Budapest23
Addis Ababa, August 26, 2023 (FBC) – Athlete Amane Beriso wins gold medal for Ethiopia at the 2023 World Athletics Championship Marathon in Budapest.
Amane clocked 2:24:23 to win the gold medal for her country in the 19th World Athletics Championship.
Her compatriot and last year’s champion in Oregon, Athlete Goititom Gebreselassie settled for silver medal after finishing second, clocking 2:24:34.
Another Ethiopian athlete Yalemzerf Yehualaw finished 5th though she run most of the distance in 2nd place.
Following today’s result, Ethiopia has collected 8 medals (2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze) ath the 2023 World Athletics in Budapest.
After todays result, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has extended a message of congratulations to the athlketes and Ethiopians.
“Congratulations again to our female athletes at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023 who claim gold and silver in the women’s marathon. Together we are destined to achieve many more great feats!,” said the Premier via a social media message.
