Allegations against humanitarian response in Tigray relate to political opportunism: Chief Executive
Addis Ababa, January 21, 2021 (FBC) – Chief Executive of Tigray Provisional Administration, Dr. Mulu Nega said that allegations against those humanitarian responses in Tigray are orchestrated by elements that are seeking political gain from the situation.
Dr. Mulu said that the provisional administration made the humanitarian response activity its priority concern as soon as it took office, he said.
He underlined that the TPLF Clique forces caused impediments to the humanitarian activities in the region.
Demolition and taking away of heavy trucks by the renegade TPLF also contributed to obstacles in the humanitarian aid delivery across the region, the Chief Executive said.
The coincidence between the harvest time and the commencement of the law enforcement operation that was preceded by TPLF belligerence aggravated the humanitarian crisis in the region, Dr. Mulu underlined.
Chief Executive Dr. Mulu said that communities in the region have been exposed to serious problems due to power blackout and water shortage caused by devastative activities of the TPLF clique.
Information circulated as humanitarian assistance is not being accessed to Tigray regional state is false and ungrounded, Dr. Mulu explained, adding that those who are distributing the misinformation are seeking to make political capital out of the situation.
Saying that electricity, water and other social services have been restored in several parts of the region, Dr. Mulu announced activities underway to resume services in areas which have not yet regained the services.
The Chief Executive further called up on all Ethiopians to contribute their share in rebuilding Tigray.
