AI an ideal investment for fruitful future, says Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed

Addis Ababa, September 9, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI), describing it as the ideal investment for a fruitful future. His remarks came during the graduation ceremony for trainees of Summer Camp 2024, where he inspired the graduating teenagers and young adults.

During the event, the Prime Minister noted the increasingly effective application of artificial intelligence, aligning it with its intended purpose.

The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute has ramped up its training initiatives, accommodating 200 trainees this summer to enhance the skills of young people in the field.

According to Worku Gachna (PhD), Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, a total of 3,500 students from various regions of the country registered, with 200 qualifying students completing the program.

He highlighted that the training spanned five key sectors, focusing on cultivating proficient and competitive AI professionals.

The program was led by expert trainers, with comprehensive resources, enabling trainees to acquire significant knowledge and insights in the realm of artificial intelligence. The participating students expressed their gratitude, noting the substantial understanding they gained through the training.
