Africa’s future lies in transforming resources into value-added products: ECA ES
Addis Ababa, November 23, 2024 (FBC) – In his address to African Economic Conference 2024, Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Claver Gatete has underscored that Africa’s economic future can be realized though the reform of the global financial system, transforming the tax systems and value-added products while de-risking investments to attract investments.
Claver Gatete added that Africa’s future lies in transforming resources into value-added products and building regional value chains across key sectors; successful models – Botswana’s beef industry, Ethiopia’s leather production and Ghana & Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa sectors can be replicated.”
The 2024 African Economic Conference (AEC) is taking place in Gaborone, Botswana from 23-25 November 2024 under the theme “Securing Africa’s Economic Future Amidst Rising Uncertainty”
