African Environmental Outlook for business launched
Addis Ababa, August 17, 2023 (FBC) – The study of African Environmental Outlook for business has been launched at the sideline forum of “Science and policy form” alongside of the nineteenth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) conference in Addis Ababa today, Environment Protection Authority of Ethiopia disclosed.
Speaking at the launching forum, Ms. Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development of Ethiopia stated that the formulation and launching of the African Environmental Outlook for Business will serve in formulating national environmental policies for the member countries.
Ms. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Deputy Executive Director, UNEP, for her part, said that the preparation and publication of Africa’s environmental outlook for business by UNEP and partners will help African environmental authorities and government partners to make an informed decisions that are based on evidence and scientific data.
Authorities also explained to that forum that the launching and operationalization of the Outlook will serve to engage the private sector along with other actors working on environment and related issues.
The nineteenth session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) is being held from 14 to 18 August 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia under the theme “Seizing Opportunities and Enhancing Collaboration to Address Environmental Challenges in Africa”. It aims to strengthen collaboration among institutions and enhance implementation of global and regional environmental frameworks to address environmental challenges facing the continent.
