African Aviation Forum kicks off in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, May 10, 2023 (FBC) The continental aviation summit, under the theme of “The Acceleration of the Single African Air Transport Market” has started to be held in Ethiopia.
The Secretary General of the African Civil Aviation Commission, Adefunke Adeyemi, stated on the occasion that the integrated air transport market project in Africa is part of the African Union Agenda 2063.
She commended Ethiopia’s contribution for the realization of integrated air transport market project in Africa appreciating nation’s role in the development of African aviation industry.
Adefunke Adeyemi also pointed out that the fact that Ethiopian Airlines is currently operating direct flights to 35 African countries, citing this as a huge contribution to the project.
The project will be of great significance to the realization of the strong economic integration among African nations.
It is stated that the full implementation of the project would help transport additional 15.9 million people, create employment for 597 thousand people and increase the annual gross growth rate to 4.2 billion dollars.
It is stated on the forum that 36 African countries, including Ethiopia, have signed to become part of the market in order to implement one integrated air transport in Africa.
