AFP photographer unmasks Amnesty’s trademark lies
Addis Ababa, July 18, 2021 (FBC) – Amnesty International’s latest claim about the mass arrest of ethnic Tigrayans in Addis Ababa by authorities is exposed to be a big lie and part of the organization’s usual smear campaign against the current Ethiopian government.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) photographer Amanuel Sileshi told The Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) that Amnesty used the photograph he did for the AFP’s coverage of Ethiopia’s 6th General Elections last June.
According to EPA, the picture that the organization used to accuse the Ethiopian government is totally unrelated with the detention of ethnic Tigrayans.
Amanuel explained that the photograph Amnesty picked to charge the Ethiopian government on ‘mass detention of Tigrayans’ actually shows the security personnel checking the electorate in polling stations. He requested the organization to take down the photograph.
