Adwa victory source of unity, inspiration for Ethiopians: Minister
Addis Ababa, February 26, 2021 (FBC) –Minister of Peace, Muferihat Kamil, said the victory of Adwa is a source of unity and inspiration for the current generation.
She made the remark at an event organized today in connection with the 125th anniversary of the battle of Adwa, which would be marked next week.
The event highlighted the importance of the celebration of the historical landmarks of the anniversary as a legacy of the history of Ethiopia’s sovereignty as a nation.
The consultative forum took place today under the theme “Adwa: Our Shared Victory for Transformation – International Peace Dialogue.”
Ambassadors, diplomatic community and representatives of international agencies attended the half-day forum.
In her opening remark, Muferihat said the victory of Adwa opened a new era for the liberation of black people.
The Minister said the victory is the source of unity and inspiration for Ethiopians.
She said joint effort of all is required to pull the nation out of the current multifaceted challenges.
Former Deputy Commissioner of African Union Commission, Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, said the victory of Adwa is a model of liberation for all black people.
He said strengthened economic and political integration is crucial to see a strong Africa.
