Adwa Victory lays a solid foundation for multi-national unity: Upper House Speaker

Addis Ababa, March 2, 2024 (FBC) – Speaker of the House of Federation, Agegnehu Teshager, while addressing the gatherings at Adwa Victory Day Celebration, highlighted the significance of the victory in laying a solid foundation for multi-national unity.

Agegnehu said the newly built Adwa Victory Memorial adds grace and colorfulness for this year’s celebration.

“Through their sacrifices, our forefathers and foremothers defended the nation from external enemies and enabled us to live with pride. Their unity and mutual understanding was the source of their victory over the colonial power,” Agegnehu noted, calling the generation to maintain harmony and maintain a share vision for the betterment of the country.

He called on the generation to draw lessons from the brotherhood, love and unity the Ethiopian nations and nationalities exhibited at the battle of Adwa.

The House Speaker further stressed the need to consolidate efforts to realize a democratic and prosperous Ethiopia.
