Adigala power export station pivotal to strengthen Ethiopia-Djibouti economic ties

Addis Ababa, January 9, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced that the Adigala 230 KV power distribution station plays a pivotal role in further strengthening the economic ties between Ethiopia and Djibouti.

The director of the communication department of EEP, Mr. Moges Mekonen, Adigala distribution station is not only a power export station, but also provides reliable electric power for the Ethiopia-Djibouti cross-border potable water line.

According to him, the station has a vital role for EEP’s power export strides and the relations between the two countries.

On his part, the manager of Adigala power distribution station, Mr. Yonas Samuel, said that the station has one transformer with a capacity of 25 megavolt ampere and 4 reactors with a capacity of 74 megavolt ampere and five output lines of 33 kV.

He mentioned that the transmission lines are providing reliable electric power to the towns of Adigala, Aisha, Dewelle and Arwe, as well as the Ethiopia-Djibouti railway and the Ethiopia-Djibouti cross-border potable water line.
