Addis Wog forum underway in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, January 11, 2023 (FBC) – The first ‘Addis Wog’ forum of the 2015 Ethiopian calendear year is underway under the theme of “Our People, Our Potential”.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum, the Demographics expert, Prof. Nigatu Geda, and Yeshitla Wondmeneh have tabled presentations at the forum for consultation.

In the discussion, Fitsum Aseffa, Minister of Planning and Development said, “Education, health and other sectors should collaborate to utilize the potential of the population.”

She confirmed that the policy adjustment process was prepared and the conforming process of the policy has been completed.

The Demographics expert, Prof,r Nigatu Geda, for his part, said that the increase in population will cause challenges in the provision of services in urban areas.

In an effort to address the challenges, he said, population growth, however, creates an opportunity to design new technology-oriented operation systems.

Meanwhile, Yeshitla Wondmeneh, said “To alleviate the security threats associated with population growth, it is critical to produce morally and ethically equipped generation by expanding peace infrastructures and promoting civic culture.”
