Addis Ababa to host continental peace conference next week
Addis Ababa, November 22, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Peace of Ethiopia (MoP) has announced that Addis Ababa will be hosting a continental peace conference under the theme “Building a Prosperous and Peaceful Africa”, next week.
The event aims to bring together representatives from African countries, stakeholders, and invited guests to discuss important and leading ideas that will elevate peace and prosperity on the African continent to new heights.
In a media briefing about the conference, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Peace, Mr. Keyredin Tezera, emphasized that Ethiopia has played a significant role in the process of peacekeeping both at the continental and global levels.
He highlighted that Ethiopia has made substantial contributions to the freedom, peace, and good governance in Africa.
The State Minister noted that the conference is designed to ensure continental peace and prosperity by sharing Ethiopia’s peacebuilding experiences and addressing the peace challenges that are affecting the stability and development of African countries.
The conference further aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among African countries and stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities related to peace and prosperity in the region, he underscored.
The event is also expected to contribute to enhancing the efforts to create a more integrated, strong, and prosperous continent by strengthening cooperation and unity among African countries. Furthermore, the conference intends to utilize diversity as a source of strength that enhances people-to-people relations, continental cohesion, and common goals.
Keyredin also noted that the conference is considered a milestone in the peace goal that Africa has set for itself in the Agenda 2063.
The conference will be held from November 25-26, 2024 at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa.
Participants of the event will also have the opportunity to visit some of the development projects underway in the African capital.
