Addis Ababa selected to share school meals program experience to other countries
Addis Ababa, October 22, 2023 (FBC) – Addis Ababa city has been selected as a place where other countries can learn from at the first-ever global summit of School Meals Coalition, which was held in Paris, France.
The city has been selected for this purpose owing to the encouraging results of primary school students benefiting from the school feeding program, the reduction in the number of students dropping out of school due to lack of food, the job opportunities created by the feeding program for women, the program being able to combine with urban agriculture and the establishment of a feeding center and leading the program in a sustainable manner.
The city’s exemplar achievement in implementing the School Feeding Program has also received plaudits from the School Meals Coalition global summit as the place to learn best experiences from.
The Mayor o Addis Ababa City Administration, Adanech Abiebie also shared the city’s success story in implementimng the program in the past few years.
In a message posted on her social media page, the Addis Ababa Mayor has reiterated that the city administration will continue to strengthen the implementation of the program as part of next generation building program.
