Addis Ababa launches food rationing for vulnerable societies
Addis Ababa, May 30, 2020 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City Administration has launched food rationing program amid coronavirus pandemic addressing more than 1,000 vulnerable individuals in Lideta and Addis Ketema Sub Cites.
Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Engineer Takelle Umma has launched the food distribution program supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Ethiopia, mayor’s office indicated.
The food rationing that will last for three months is initiated in line with mitigating impacts of the coronavirus in a certain place at Lideta Sub City where movements of people is restricted and districts of Addis Ketema Sub City, the office stated.
During the occasion, Takelle said it is a critical time that needs mutual support among communities besides assistance facilitated by the city government for the number of new COVID 19 cases are increasing.
