Addis Ababa City Admin provides Malala of Ethiopia, Ikram Yasin with housing support
Addis Ababa, January 18, 2022 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City Administration has provided Ikram Yasin, a teenager who survived gang-rape by TPLF militants in Shewa Robit town with housing support.
It is to be recalled that Ikram and her family fled their hometown Shewarobit and started living in Addis Ababa due to the high psychological pressure from local community after the teenager divulged what she had faced in televised interviews.
Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie has handed over the keys of the house to Ekram Yasin today. On the occasion, the Mayor dubbed Ikram as “Malala of Ethiopia”. “Ikram’s inner strength is exemplary to other women and girls in the same situation” the Mayor underlined.
Ikram become symbol of perseverance among Ethiopians for she has endured the physical and psychological pain she suffered due to harrowing act of the terrorist TPLF soldiers.
Furthermore, an Ethiopian investor Belayneh Kindie has also extended a one million birr financial support to Ikram Yasin.
Ikram once said in an interview that “Soldiers of the terrorist TPLF Group raped me to disgrace me. But, I will not succumb to such a terrible act of the terrorist Group militants; rather the suffering they caused to me will uplift my spirits for better achievements in my life”
Belayneh vowed to continue all the necessary support to Ekram until she completes her education.
In related story, Coalition of Amhara Investors has presented a one million birr support to a child named Biniam Getachew who has lost his father due to the war inflicted by the terrorist TPLF Group. Addis Ababa City Administration has so far provided Biniam with a residential house.
