Activities Underway to Rehabilitate Health Institutions Destroyed by War: Ministry

Addis Ababa, September 26, 2021 (FBC) – Health Minister Dr. Liya Taddese said activities are underway to refurbish health facilities in Amhara and Afar regions destroyed by war.

The remarks came while a delegation led by the minister paid a visit today to members of defense forces taking their treatments at Gondar Specialized Hospital. The delegation also visited Zarima Health Center destroyed by the war with TPLF and IDPs sheltered in Debark town in north Gondar zone.

According to Dr. Liya her ministry is working in collaboration with the regional states in order to rehabilitate the health institutions and to avail them to serve especially the displaced people.

According to ENA, in four administrative zones of Amhara region alone, 25 hospitals, 277 health centers, and 1, 162 health posts were either looted or destroyed by TPLF.
