A Kenyan Hospitality and Culinary Arts Training Institute Keen on Investing in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, March 5, 2022 (FBC) – The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Meles Alem, received Dr. Abbas Gullet, Director of the Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC), a premier Pan African Hospitality and culinary Arts Training institute based in Nairobi, Kenya on 04 March 2022.

The Ambassador and the Director chiefly deliberated on various areas of cooperation mainly on investment opportunities in the hospitality industry and sports tourism between the two sisterly countries.

Meles conveyed his appreciation for BIHC’s decision to invest in the hospitality industry in Ethiopia and assured that Ethiopia is the right choice as it is the houses the headquarters of the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the regional offices of several International Organizations.

Ambassador Meles also said it is better to invest in the respective areas as hotel and tourism industry is booming. Alluding to the fact that foreign investors could tap in the huge potentials of the youth in Ethiopia, the Ambassador noted, it is unthinkable to contemplate tourism without the hospitality industry. He also expressed his strong belief that BIHC’s investment in the hospitality industry in Ethiopia will play a crucial role in filling the gap by providing a well-educated and equipped workforce to the sector.

Dr. Abbas Gullet, on his part, commended the facelifting effort undertaken by the Ethiopian Government on the City of Addis Ababa and deliberated on how the Kenya and Ethiopia can combine forces in sports tourism to further expedite ties. Dr. Abbas also said there is a lot Ethiopia can offer to the world in terms of culture and tourism and BIHC is ready to provide the country a world class school of hospitality in the region.
