Public Health Institute to build state-of-the-art laboratories with $150m
Addis Ababa, September 9, 2020 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Public Health Institute said it will build state-of-the-art laboratories and carry out capacity building activities in the 2013 (2020/21) Ethiopian fiscal year.
The construction and capacity building programs will be undertaken across the nation with $150 million grant and loan secured from the World Bank.
With the stated amount, a biosafety level-3 (BSL3) laboratory will be erected in the premises of the institute, besides the construction of 15 regional reference laboratories.
Similarly, 8 existing laboratories will be supplied with the necessary lab equipment in addition to other capacity building activities, said the institute.
The laboratories could also help Ethiopia to provide service for other east African nations, it added.
