Annual Ambassadors, Heads of Mission Meeting Kicks Off
Addis Ababa, August 24, 2020 (FBC) – The Annual Meeting of Ambassadors, Heads of Missions and Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has kicked off under the theme “Diplomatic Mission to National Prosperity” in Bishoftu Town.
Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gedu Andargachew, in his opening remark noted that the ministry has undertaken a wide range of fruitful activities in line with ensuring peace and stability in country and the region at large.
Ethiopia has accomplished exemplary missions in enforcing agreements signed between parties in South Sudan, supporting peaceful power transition in Sudan, maintaining peace in Somalia and enhanceing friendship with Eritrea based peace agreements signed so far, Gedu noted.
According to Gedu, the government of Ethiopia has been playing a crucial role in creating regional economic and social integration under the framework of IGAD, and building peace and democratic system in the country.
Steps taken to increase strategic partners from all corners of the globe were fruitful Gedu underlined; adding productive activities have been carried out in terms of getting political and diplomatic supports from the international community to nation’s reform journey.
The Ministy was successful in involing Ethiopians in reflecting Ethiopia’s fair and reasonable position on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam to the world community, and building image of the country through firm diplomatic support.
Ethiopia has gained a triumph over the negotiations held on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam through unreserved public diplomacy efforts, the Foreign Minister added.
The meeting continues until September 1, 2020 for sixteen days in a row undergowing various sessions including seminars on Strategic Leadership and Balance Score Card performance evaluation.
