Ethiopia registers highest single-day spike in COVID 19

Addis Ababa, August 22, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia registered the highest single-day spike in COVID 19 on Friday as the Ministry of Health reported 1,829 new infections out of 23,035 laboratory tests conducted in twenty four hours.

Following the new report, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has reached 37,665.

Moreover, 17 people have succumbed to the virus taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 637.

The ministry indicated that 377 additional people have recovered from the disease.

There are currently 23,113 active cases in the country of which 248 are in severe condition.

The nation has so far conducted 717, 128 laboratory tests since the first case was detected on March 13, 2020
