Solar power project goes operational in Benishangul Gumuz regional state

Addis Ababa, August 17, 2020 (FBC) –A solar power project built in Metekl zone, Benishangul Gumuz regional state, has begun rendering service.

The 275KW  power project was built with close to 26 million birr, according to the regional state’s electric utility.

Similarly, works on a solar power project in Agniwa zone, Gambella regional state, has reached 74% completion, according to Ethiopian Electric Utility.

The project which rested on an area of 5,950 square meters in Engogi town, Jor woreda, is being built at a cost of $425,746 by the Chinese CET & NR Consortium.

When completed after a month, the project with the capacity to generate 175KW, would help provide electricity for close to 200 people, the Utility said.
