Ethiopia reports highest single-day increase in COVID19 cases

Addis Ababa, July 20, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Health yesterday reported 704 new cases of COVID-19 , the highest single-day increase so far.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 10,207.

Of the new cases, 551 are from Addis Ababa, 39 from Tigray, 30 from Oromia, 26 from Gambella, 3 from Afar, 3 from Harari, 10 from Dire Dawa, 3 from Somali, 21 from Amhara, 11 from Sidama, 5 from Benishangul and 2 from Southern regions.

The Ministry also reported 3 COVID 19-related deaths in the reported period, bringing the death toll to 170.

Some 196 patients have also recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,137.

Ethiopia has so far conducted 331, 266 laboratory tests.
