Nordic diplomats commend gov’t’s commitment to building green economy, ensuring sustainable dev’t
Addis Ababa, January 10, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, conferred with the Ambassadors of Nordic Countries stationed in Addis Ababa, including Norway, Sweden and Finland, on further enhancing multifaceted cooperation in bilateral, regional and global venues, this afternoon.
The meeting highlighted the longstanding political, economic, social, and people-to-people ties between Ethiopia and Nordic countries.
Foreign Minister Gedion reaffirmed Ethiopia’s continued commitment to bolstering ties during the talks. He also briefed the Ambassadors on the ongoing macroeconomic reforms in the country and called upon Nordic companies to exploit the benefits brought about by the cascaded reforms.
He thanked respective governments for their support to the national dialogue process that is geared towards effecting lasting peace in Ethiopia.
The Ambassadors, on their part, commended the government’s commitment to building a green economy and ensuring sustainable development.
They affirmed their support for Ethiopia’s transformation efforts and expressed their commitment to maintaining positive relations both bilaterally and through group initiatives.
The ambassadors expressed their commitment to encouraging Nordic companies to take advantage of the new investment prospects in Ethiopia that have emerged following the recent economic reforms.
They also lauded Ethiopia’s efforts to promote peace in the Horn of Africa, particularly in Sudan and Somalia.
