Ethiopia, AeTrade Group sign host country agreement

Addis Ababa, December 19, 2024 (FMC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and AeTrade Group today signed a host country agreement aimed at establishing the regional headquarters for East Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

During the signing ceremony, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, emphasized that the agreement is crucial for facilitating the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), creating job opportunities, stimulating start-ups, and strengthening the digital economy.

He also highlighted the Ethiopian government’s commitment to supporting AeTrade Group in operationalizing its regional headquarters in Addis Ababa.

AeTrade Group CEO Mr. Mulualem Siyoum reaffirmed his organization’s dedication to investing in the development of a new African market, with the goal of creating sustainable job opportunities on a larger scale. “As Ethiopia has signed and ratified the AfCFTA, we are fully prepared to assist Ethiopian companies in benefiting from this important policy decision,” he added.

The African E-Trade Group (AeTrade) is a multi-stakeholder group of African professionals and business people with a vision to develop and implement an e-empowerment program that will enhance intra-and inter-African trade.
