Ethiopia congratulates France on restoration and reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral
Addis Ababa, December 8, 2024 (FMC) – Ethiopia, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has sent its congratulatory message to Frace on restoration and reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, a monument to human ingenuity.
In a message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), MFA Ethiopia stressed that Ethiopia deeply appreciates and shares France’s commitment to heritage sites.
Five years after a devastating fire, the restored Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral officially reopened on Saturday with a grand ceremony attended by world leaders, believers and nonbelievers alike. Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich knocked three times on the cathedral’s wooden doors, officially marking the reopening.
The ceremony began with a tribute film honoring all those who played a role in the rescue and restoration of Notre-Dame. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to saving and rebuilding the cathedral at the event.
According to reports, the celebration was attended by 1,500 dignitaries, including U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Elon Musk.
