Partners praise progress of the 5th phase of the Productive Safety Net Program
Addis Ababa, December 3, 2024 (FBC) – A meeting attended by federal and regional officials, along with representatives from donor organizations, focused on assessing the fifth phase of the Productive Safety Net Program for the 2024/2025 fiscal year as well as discussing key objectives for the upcoming sixth phase.
The event featured a detailed presentation of the implementation report, followed by thorough discussions on the program’s future direction.
Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente (PhD) highlighted the government’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms aimed at achieving food security for its citizens, emphasizing the crucial role of the Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) in these efforts. He expressed appreciation for the contributions made through the program.
Ferdinand Von Weyhe (PhD), the PSNP donor coordinator, shared his commendation for the remarkable outcomes achieved during the fifth phase and reassured participants that the initiatives launched in the sixth phase would be carried out effectively.
Sintayehu Demise, Head of the Food Security Coordination Office, outlined the focal points for the sixth phase, confirming that both public work and family livelihood enhancement activities would proceed as planned.
Both Girma Amente and Ferdinand Von Weyhe addressed questions raised during the meeting and reached consensus on the strategic pathways for moving forward.
