Horn of Africa’s rich heritage, cultural diversity position it to propel continental progress: Ethiopian Ambassador
Addis Ababa, November 28, 2024 (FBC) – At the 3rd Horn Dialogue currently underway in Nairobi, Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya, General Bacha Debele, opened the event with remarks centered on the theme “Road-mapping the Future Security Cooperation in the Horn of Africa.”
Emphasizing the region’s vast potential, Ambassador Bacha highlighted the Horn of Africa’s rich history, cultural diversity, and natural resources as key factors that uniquely position it to lead Africa’s development. However, he also pointed out the complexities the region faces.
The Ambassador called for innovative strategies that move beyond traditional state-centric approaches, urging participants to adopt models that leverage the collective strengths of governments, regional organizations, communities, and international partners.
He emphasized that the dialogue should serve as more than just an idea exchange; it should become a catalyst for action involving not just state representatives, but also community leaders, religious figures, civil society organizations, and youth voices. In closing, Ambassador Bacha encouraged participants to utilize this opportunity to create a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable roadmap for security cooperation within the Horn of Africa.
