China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference kicks off in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, November 14, 2024 (FBC) – The China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation conference commenced in Addis Ababa, attended by prominent officials from both nations.
Among the attendees were Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and the Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Che Hai.
During the conference, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide described the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation as a milestone achievement, emphasizing that it fosters mutual benefits and prosperity for both countries. He highlighted Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and noted that the country has implemented a market-based foreign exchange system along with other favorable conditions for Chinese investors.
State Minister Ambassador Mesganu Arga echoed these sentiments, pointing out that the economic and trade ties between Ethiopia and China continue to deepen on the basis of mutually beneficial arrangements. He also remarked that Ethiopia’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative is enhancing the multifaceted relationship between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Chen Hai, emphasized Ethiopia’s position as Africa’s fastest-growing economy and noted that China’s investments represent the largest of their kind on the continent.
Additionally, Xu Kunlin, the Governor of Jiangsu Province in China, praised the positive developments occurring in Ethiopia. He highlighted that Jiangsu, recognized as China’s largest economic zone, has 70 companies actively operating in Ethiopia.
