Presidential elections in Somaliland underway
Addis Ababa, November 13, 2024 (FBC) – Somaliland is currently holding its fourth presidential election. Voters have expressed the significance of this election, emphasizing its importance for peace, development, and unity within the region.
Participants voiced their discontent over a two-year delay in the elections they attributed to various factors, but they remain hopeful that today’s vote will address the challenges that arose during this period.
The election features three major parties: the Kulmiye Peace, Unity, and Development Party, led by the incumbent President Moses Bihi Abdi; the Waddani Party, headed by Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi; and the Justice and Welfare Party, led by Faisal Ali Warabe.
Over 1.2 million voters are participating, casting their ballots at 2,648 polling stations across six regions.
