Ethiopia, South Korea Agree to Strengthen Collaboration in Fight Against Corruption
Addis Ababa, November 5, 2024 (FBC) – Federal Ethics and Anti- corruption Commission and Anti-Corruption and Human Right Commission of Republic of Korea have discussed ways to enhancing collaboration in the fight against corruption.
A delegation of Republic of Korea led by Chung Seung Yun, Vice Chair of Anti- Corruption and Human Rights Commission held discussion with its Ethiopia Counterpart today in Addis Ababa.
During the discussion, the two sides expressed desire to strengthen collaborative efforts in preventing and combating corruption on the basis of equality, friendship and mutual benefits, and in accordance with the laws and regulations of their respective countries.
The two parties will cooperate through consultations, exchange of information and materials, and best practices concerning the implementation of anti-corruption policies, according to ENA.
Training and education aimed at raising public awareness about the corruption prevention efforts with the view to strengthen public participation is also part of the cooperation discussed on the occasion.
The fight against transnational corruption can also be enhanced by the collaborative and continuous efforts between the two parties, it was noted.
Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Commissioner, Samuel Urkato highlighted about the measures being taken to prevent corruption in Ethiopia by incorporating continental and international policies and strategies in to its policies.
He said Ethiopia is interested to have South Korean experiences particularly by digitalizing training methods that Ethiopia is working to strengthen the fight against corruption.
Chung Seung Yun, Vice Chair of Anti- Corruption & Human Rights Commission said for his part that besides exchange of information, Korea is keen to provide technical and financial support to Ethiopia in the effort to mitigate corruption.
