Ethiopia’s BRICS senior officials committee holds 5th session
Addis Ababa, November 1, 2024 (FBC) – The 5th session of Ethiopia’s BRICS Senior Officials National Committee meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA Ethiopia) on 31 September 2024, the Ministry disclosed today.
On the session chaired by Ambassador Minelik Alemu, Special Policy Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of FDRE, the report of Ethiopia’s participation at the 16th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, the 2nd BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting held in New York at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and the 4th Sherpa’s and Sous Sherpa’s meeting held in Kazan, Russia, was presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The presentation outlined the active participation Ethiopian delegation conducted at the 16th BRICS Summit, in which Ethiopia’s national interest was effectively promoted.
Ethiopia’s interests are well articulated in the Kazan Declaration of the Summit. The Declaration covered many areas of cooperation among BRICS countries and their active role in support of multilateralism, the reform of international financial and economic institutions, and the United Nations Security Council.
The meeting emphasized the importance of active participation and seamless coordination among institutions to better promote the national interests of Ethiopia in BRICS platforms.
Senior Officials of 24 Institutions participated in the meeting, the Ministry indicated.
