Ethiopia committed to regional integration and cooperation, President Taye assures
Addis Ababa, October 31, 2024 (FBC) – The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie reiterated Ethiopia’s support to the new chairperson of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi.
President Taye Atske-Selassie expressed his country’s support to the new chairperson of regional economic community while delivering his remarks earlier today at the 23rd COMESA Summit of Heads of State &Government in Bujumbura, Burndi.
He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and assured new COMESA Chairman, President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, of Ethiopia’s unwavering support as he leads COMESA.
Addressing Africa’s value chain challenges, President Taye highlighted Ethiopia’s multi-sectoral reforms in agriculture and tourism, showcasing remarkable outcomes, including wheat self-sufficiency and the development of new tourism destinations.
The President also expressed his assurance that Ethiopia will remain fully committed to working closely with the COMESA Secretariat and all member states to foster deeper and broader regional integration and cooperation.
