Hosting CAF Assembly will spark a football revival across Ethiopia – Deputy PM

Addis Ababa, October 22, 2024 (FBC) – The hosting of the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Ethiopia is expected to serve as a catalyst to revive and uplift the country’s football, according to Temesgen.

The 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is currently underway at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, bringing together leaders and delegates from Member Associations across Africa. The event is being attended by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, CAF Executive Committee members, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström, football federations and presidents of regional football associations from CAF member countries, as well as other stakeholders of the sport.

In a message posted on his social media page, Temesgen expressed that the hosting of the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Ethiopia will serve as a springboard to uplift the country’s football. “The 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, being held in Ethiopia, will spark a football revival across the nation. Renowned football stars who have represented Africa on the global stage are also gathering in the capital for this momentous event.”

Moreover, Temesgen expressed his best wishes for the success of the Assembly, stating; “We sincerely wish for the success of this congregation.”

In is indicated that Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen attended the dinner program hosted last night at the Grand National Place by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in honor of the leadership and attendees of the CAF General Assembly.

The CAF General Assembly is said to be a significant event in the football calendar, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss key issues affecting the sport in Africa. The event is expected to address various topics, including the development of football infrastructure, the promotion of grassroots football, and the enhancement of governance and transparency in the sport.
