Ethiopian, German dev’t banks explore ways to deepen cooperation

Addis Ababa, October 18, 2024 (FBC) – The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) and Germany’s KfW Development Bank convened a meeting to enhance their collaboration on shared initiatives, DBE disclosed today.

The meeting brought together a delegation from the DBE, including its president, Ms. Emebet Melese, and representatives from Germany’s Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, the German Embassy in Ethiopia, and the KfW Development Bank.

The meeting also covered the implementation of two projects which are being carried out by the DBE and funded by the German KfW Development Bank.

According to DBE, these projects involve leasing services for machinery that provides mechanization services to boost the agricultural sector, as well as providing finance through microfinance institutions and banks to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Ethiopia.

Apart from the two ongoing projects, the meeting also addressed the implementation processes of two future projects and discussed the direction for their further implementation.
