Ethiopian coffee becomes very popular in Chinese market: Embassy

Addis Ababa, October 11, 2024 (FBC) – The Embassy of China in Addis Ababa announced that, in recent years, Ethiopian coffee has become very popular in the Chinese market.

The Embassy said the Ethiopia’s coffee export into China have been growing at 27% annually.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said yesterday Ethiopia has doubled annual coffee production from 500,000 tons to over 1 million tons within the last five years.

“We have accomplished the remarkable feat of producing 1 million tons,” he noted.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also pointed out that Ethiopia has experienced a remarkable increase in revenue from coffee exports, reaching over 1.4 billion USD in the last fiscal year.
