Deputy PM Temesgen emphasizes blood-sweat sacrifice for national sovereignty

Addis Ababa, September 8, 2024 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh emphasized that national sovereignty demands blood-sweat sacrifice, stating that the freedom and territorial integrity of the country, as well as the honor of its people, can only be preserved through ultimate sacrifices.

On September 8, 2024, Ethiopia observed Pagume 3, which was commemorated as “Sovereignty Day” nationwide. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of national sovereignty in all aspects of the country.

At a panel discussion held today at the National Science Museum, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh delivered opening remarks, urging all Ethiopians to stand in unison in order to ensure the nation’s sovereignty in all circumstances.

He emphasized that it is the duty of every citizen to preserve their legacy and ensure that Ethiopia’s sovereignty remains steadfast for generations to come.

During the event, Deputy PM Truneh underscored that national sovereignty demands blood-sweat sacrifice. “The freedom and territorial integrity of the country and the honor of its people can be preserved through ultimate sacrifices. Meanwhile, political, economic, knowledge, technological, and financial sovereignty can be ensured through sweat,” he said.

In that regard, the deputy premier further stressed that all Ethiopians are guardians of their country’s sovereignty by dedicating their time, knowledge, and energy.

Since the reforms, the thirteenth month of Pagume, which commemorates Ethiopia’s transitional period, has been observed nationally under a variety of themes. Today’s celebration of Sovereignty Day serves as a reminder of the importance of national unity and sacrifice in preserving Ethiopia’s sovereignty for generations to come.
