EMTI Graduates Ready to Set Sail on International Shipping Careers
Addis Ababa, September 5, 2024 (FBC) – In a ceremony held today, the Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI) celebrated the graduation of its latest batch of mariners.
These highly skilled sailors, who have trained on Lake Tana and joined the international shipping business, are now setting sail for different countries around the world. All of the graduating maritime professionals are reportedly engineering students from various universities in Ethiopia.
Transport and Logistics Minister Alemu Sime praised EMTI’s contribution to the international shipping services in providing skilled Ethiopian mariners and expressed gratitude for the institute’s support to the sector.
He emphasized the significance of the maritime industry in creating a substantial number of job opportunities and acknowledged that his country has not yet fully utilized this opportunity.
Minister Alemu expressed confidence that the graduates will make their country proud with their performances in various foreign countries where they will be working. The Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of the country’s maritime industry.
