UNOCHA Commends Ethiopia’s efforts to address climate change

Addis Ababa, September 3, 2024 (FBC) – State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, met with Mr. Paul Anthony Handley, Head of Office for UNOCHA Ethiopia on Tuesday.

Appreciating the international support provided to Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu underscored the significance of the support of humanitarian partners, including UNOCHA, in the government’s efforts to address the combined impact of conflicts, natural disasters, and displacements.

Mr. Paul Anthony, on his part, appreciated Ethiopia’s efforts to address humanitarian challenges, and mitigate climate change through the national green legacy initiative. He also appreciated nation’s progress in implementing safety net programs, and improving the national health care systems.

The two sides concluded their discussions agreeing on enhancing cooperation and strengthening partnerships to effectively address the existing humanitarian challenges in the country.
