Foreign Minister Taye confers with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed
Addis Ababa, July 23, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie has held a bilateral discussion with the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Amina J. Mohammed at his office on Monday on the sidelines of the First Preparatory Meeting for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4).
During their discussion, Ambassador Taye thanked Deputy SG Amina for her effective leadership of the UN development system including the resident coordinators system.
Furthermore, the two officials also discussed at length about the upcoming UN summit of the future, Ethiopia’s national development endeavors as well as Horn of Africa regional issues, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
Recall that first preparatory meeting for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development commenced on Monday (22 July) in Addis Ababa at the Skylight Hotel. It is scheduled to conclude on 26th of July 2024.
It was nine years ago that the third international FFD conference was held in Addis Ababa, which yielded the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (AAAA) which sets out principles and actions to sustainably finance the SDGs. This first preparatory meeting is being held this week to review the progress and gaps in the implementation of AAAA leading up to the 4th international FfD conference, which will be held next year in Spain.
