Ethiopia, Morocco discuss ways of reviving their military cooperation
In a significant development, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), today met with a Moroccan defense delegation led by Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Aziz Idrisi.
The two dignitaries engaged in a discussion aimed at reviving the long-standing relationship between the two countries and exploring opportunities for closer collaboration on issues of peace and security.
During their meeting, Field Marshal Berhanu emphasized the historical connection between Ethiopia and Morocco, which had been temporarily on hold due to various reasons.
He expressed his satisfaction in reopening communication channels through today’s discussions and visits, describing it as a positive development.
On his part, Major General Aziz Idrisi praised Ethiopia’s robust military capacity, capable of effectively fulfilling its duties in peacekeeping missions and other endeavors.
He highlighted the significance of military cooperation with the Ethiopian army and explained that the Moroccan delegation chose to visit Ethiopia, recognizing the importance of this collaboration.
The Moroccan delegation will tour various areas of ENDF’s state-of-the-art facilities, as indicated by the Ministry of Defense.
The exchange of ideas and discussion following the visit will lay a great foundation for the defense agreement between the two countries and foster the spirit of African brotherhood, according to the post on social media by the Ethiopian National Defense Forces’ media directorate.
Both sides concurred that this visit marks a new chapter in the relationship between Ethiopia and Morocco, signaling a renewed commitment to cooperation and collaboration in the fields of defense and security.
