Gov’t officials welcome 3rd round arrivals of second-generation Ethiopian Diasporas
Addis Ababa, July 15, 2024 (FBC) – At Addis Ababa Bole International Airport this morning, Ambassador Nasise Chali, the Minister of Tourism, along with other senior government officials, welcomed members of the second generation Diaspora who have responded to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s “Back to Your Origins” call.
These individuals, hailing from various countries across the globe, are returning to their homeland for the third phase of the initiative, which carries the theme “Leave your Legacy, Savor Your Holiday.”
During their stay in Ethiopia, the second generation Diaspora is expected to utilize their vacation time to make a positive impact through voluntary service, which has been initiated at the national level.
The third phase of “Back to Your Origins” marks the concluding chapter of their journey, where they can assist their fellow citizens in need, impart the knowledge and experiences they have gained, and return to their residence country with fond memories by visiting various tourist attractions and engaging in enjoyable activities.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the third phase of the “Back to Your Origins” initiative is set to conclude by mid-September.
