PM Abiy confirms completion of Arat Kilo-Kebena-Kenya Embassy corridor in Addis

Addis Ababa, July 8, 2024 (FBC) – The Arat Kilo – Kebena – Kenya Embassy corridor in Addis Ababa has been successfully completed, showcasing evident greening efforts, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed confirmed on social media this morning.

The contrast between the morning and night views of the past few weeks was particularly noteworthy, as mentioned by the premier. “Today, we saw the morning view, contrasting with the night views of past weeks.”

Prime Minister Abiy expressed his gratitude towards all stakeholders for their diligent efforts and willing participation in accomplishing this endeavor.

Additionally, parking been created to alleviate the city’s parking shortage, while walkways have been expanded to promote pedestrian usage.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and encouraged everyone to become guardians of the newly created green spaces. “It is crucial to focus on cultivating this culture, and everyone should be guardians of what has been created.”

This initiative is part of the government’s broader vision to transform Addis Ababa and other Ethiopian cities into modern, internationally competitive urban centers.

The Addis Ababa Corridor Development Project, which was launched a few months ago, aims to develop over 240 kilometers of roads and associated infrastructure within the capital, with the renovation of the Piasa-Arat Kilo and Mexico-Sar Bet routes being completed recently under the supervision of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
