PM Abiy appoints new ministers for Culture & Sports, Trade & Regional Integration

Addis Ababa, July 3, 2024 (FBC) – The Office of the Prime Minister announced today that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has made several appointments to the ministries of Culture & Sports and Trade & Regional Integration

Accordingly, Ms. Shewit Shanka has been named as the new Minister of Culture and Sports, succeeding Mr. Kejela Merdasa, who has now been appointed as Advisor to the Prime Minister on Youth and Sports.

Meanwhile, Kasahun Gofe has been appointed as the Minister for the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI). Notably, Kasahun has previously served as the Minister of State at MoTRI for the past few years.

These appointments will take effect as of today, the 3rd of July 2024.
