Ethiopian Federal Police, Nigeria’s Nat’l Defense College exchange experiences

Addis Ababa, June 13, 2024 (FBC) – The Chief Commissioner of Ethiopian Federal Police, General Demelash Gebre-Mickael welcomed Nigeria’s National Defence College (NDC) delegation who are in Addis Ababa to exchange experiences.

An experience sharing meeting themed “Protecting the Mining Sector for Strengthened National Security” was held between the two dignitaries here in Addis Ababa today, as disclosed by the Ethiopian Federal Police.

On the occasion, Police Commissioner Gen. Demelash said that Ethiopia has many mineral resources and thanks to the government’s reforms on policies and guidelines, these resources created great potential for the nation’s development.

He mentioned that Ethiopia is also an ideal destination for local and foreign mining investors.

The Commissioner also pointed out that protecting mineral resources from illegal exploitation and trafficking plays an important role in national security.

Gen. Demelash underscored that the Ethiopian police is paying great attention to the sector and is working to ensure responsible management so that illegal mining does incite conflict, strengthen organized crime and affect the lives of the local community.

The Nigerian delegation led by the Commandant of the Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, Major General IB Maina, toured the Ethiopian Federal Police’s modern technological facilities.
