PM Abiy congratulates his Indian counterpart over a successful election

Addis Ababa, June 6, 2024 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended a congratulatory message to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi over a successful election.

The Indian Prime Minister and his party, NDA, reportedly claimed victory in the recently concluded election.

In that regard, Prime Minister Abiy emphasized in a message published on X that elections are a testament to the will of the people, demonstrating that the people are the true owners of power.

“Congratulations to my friend Narendra Modi on holding an election that respects this will and was conducted peacefully—a significant victory and a clear sign that democracy is further flourishing in your country,” PM Abiy said in his congratulatory message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who won the election for the third time in India.

Similarly, PM Abiy also congratulated the President of South Africa on a successful election held in the past few days.

“Congratulations to my brother Cyril Ramaphosa, on overseeing an election process that truly honors the principles of democracy.”

“Your leadership in ensuring a fair, transparent, and peaceful election is a testament to your commitment to the will of the people and the democratic values that bind us all,” he added.
