Intellectuals in Diaspora shaping global attitudes towards GERD
Addis Ababa, May 14, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopian intellectuals living in USA and UK stated they are working to shape the attitude of the global community towards the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
In an exclussive interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate, the intellectuals told that they are engaged in rhetoric showing clear image of Ethiopia’s stand on GERD there by deflecting age-old and biased narrative of the Egypt on utilization of the River Nile.
Professor Teshome Abebe and Dr. Leulseged Abebe, Economics and Conflict Resolution Experts working at their expertise in USA and UK respectively, said the volatile stand of Egypt on GERD is unacceptable by any means.
Professor Teshome said he has got his pro-GERD articles published on Newsletters and Magazines abroad focusing on illustrating clear picture of Ethiopia’s stand to the world which is equitable and amicable.
According to Professor Teshome Egypt has been conspiring aiming at weakening Ethiopia’s economy and letting her people towards poverty.
Dr. Leulseged Abebe, a conflict resolution researcher in London, through his argumentative article distributed all over the world, said River Nile will not continue favoring the only interests of Egyptians but it is a bounty given to all riparian countries to benefit all in the basin.
Through his publication, Dr. Leulseged briefed the world community on Ethiopia’s stand which is based on equitable unitization of River Abay.
Through his work, Dr. Leulseged also called up on Egyptians to rethink their position, and Sudanese to reexamine their stand on GERD. Ethiopia’s position on GERD is grateful, Dr. Leulseged added.
