Ambassador vows continued cooperation with Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute
Addis Ababa, April 13, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin, pledged commitment of the Embassy to continue cooperation with Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute in the field of space science and related areas.
The International Day of Human Space Flight, was celebrated in the Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute on Friday in commemoration of the 63rd Anniversary of the first manned space flight by Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961.
The event was attended by Director General of the Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute, Abdissa Yilma, Ambassador of Russia to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin, Director of Russian Center for Science and Culture, Alexander Evstigneev, high officials and gusts drawn from various segments of the community.
The Director General of the Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute, Abdissa Yilma, said the first manned space flight paved the way for the ongoing achievements in the space science sector.
It was stated that the day is celebrated to honor the achievements of astronauts and cosmonauts, as well as to promote the exploration of space and the advancements of space technology.
On the occasion, Ambassador Evgeny Terekhin stated that the day is honored recognize the bravery and dedication of those who have ventured into space, and to inspire future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of human space exploration.
Ambassador Evgeny further expressed hope that the Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS) will engage an Ethiopian astronaut in a spaceflight to the International Space Station, pledging continued commitment with the institute.
