Ethiopia’s COVID-19 cases rise to 261

Addis Ababa, May 12, 2020 (FBC) -The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ethiopia has risen to 261 after 11 people tested positive over the past 24 hours.

The new cases were identified out of the 2,424 samples tested during the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

All the confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals from 19-47 years of age, with travel history abroad.

Of the new positive cases, 8 are from Afar and one from Tigray, Somali and Amhara regional states each. They were in quarantine facilities.

One patient has also recovered from the virus during the past 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 106.

Ethiopia has so far conducted 39, 048 laboratory tests and reported five deaths from the virus.
